Excavations of the city of Lato
Lato, Old Town
Greece, Agios Nikolaos
Lato is an ancient Dorian city of Crete. There is an assumption that the city was named after the goddess Leto.
The city was destroyed around 200 BC. e., but its port, located near modern Agios Nikolaos, was used during the time of Roman possession in Greece. Lato was excavated by the French Archaeological Institute in 1900.
