The cathedral was consecrated on May 21.1862 in honor of the Annunciation of the Mother of God in the presence of the King and Queen of Greece. This is a very beautiful cathedral in the center of Athens in the Monastiraki area. It was under restoration for a long time, but now you can admire it. From the outside, it looks more like a Catholic church, but inside it is a typical Orthodox church with rich icons and decorations. Two statues are installed on the square in front of the cathedral: St. Constantine XI Dragash and Archbishop Damascus.→
