Lycabettus is a mountain in the center of the city of Athens, the capital of Greece. Height is about 300 meters above sea level.
The mountain is famous for the Byzantine church located on it - St. George. Its construction (XI-XII centuries) was associated with the strengthening of the power of the Byzantine Empire and Christianity as a result of the Balkan military campaigns of Emperor Basil II. The old Athenians called it the church of St. Sidereus. The building was destroyed by fire in 1930 and rebuilt in 1931.
You can climb the mountain by funicular.
