Statue of Emperor Vakhtang I Gorgasali
Georgia, Tbilisi
Monument to King Vakhtang I Gorgasali, who ruled Iberia in the 5th century - an ancient state on the territory of part of modern Georgia. Vakhtang I Gorgasali is the founder of Tbilisi and one of the founders of Georgian statehood, who managed to unite its lands. He is sung in folk tales, canonized by the Georgian church, and the Order of his name is one of the highest state awards.

The statue was erected in 1970 in Tbilisi, on the left bank of the Kura River, next to the Metekhi Church. Its author was the creator of the famous sculpture Mother of Kartli Elguja Amashukeli.

This is a monument to King Vakhtang Gorgasal - the founder of Georgian statehood. In my opinion, the monument is excellent and very cool and organically fits into the place where it stands. Near Metekhi Church and a small square where you can sit in the shade. On the site near the monument offers a great panorama. There is a cable car nearby, so you can take pictures of it from different points - both from below, from the embankment, and from above, from the cable car cabin.
