Castlefield
Great britain, Manchester
Castlefield is a red-brown historic district in the center of Manchester, adjacent to the River Irwell, between the Embankment, Deansgate and Chester Road. During Roman rule, Fort Mancunium was built here, around which Manchester later grew up - an important industrial and commercial center of Great Britain. Castlefield is home to Liverpool Passenger Station, built in 1830 for the world's first railway. The railway warehouse complex is a historical landmark. Here on the river you can see small houseboats, which people like to relax on in England. Tourists can visit the Castlefield Art Gallery with its contemporary art exhibitions.
In 1982 Castlefield became the first urban heritage park in the UK.
