Manchester City Hall
Manchester City Hall
Great britain, Manchester
Manchester City Hall, built in 1863 near Albert Square, is one of the outstanding examples of neo-Gothic architecture in Great Britain, using elements of English Gothic of the 13th century. At the main entrance of the town hall there is a sculpture of Agricola, the founder of Manchester, and in the square in front of the building there is a monument to Prince Albert. On its 85-meter clock tower, during the Christmas holidays, they attach a large inflatable Santa Claus. You can get to the Clock Tower with a guided tour, during which you will learn about its history, see the work of clockwork and enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city.
The frescoes in the great hall reflect the main themes of Victorian Manchester life: religion, trade and the textile industry. There is also a large organ.
