The Horse Guards Building is located opposite the east end of St. James's Park. It was built in 1753 in the Palladian style and until the beginning of the 20th century served as the residence of the commanders-in-chief of the British army. Now there is a museum that tells about the history of the development of the horse guards, presents the weapons and uniforms of the guardsmen of different eras.
