The Courtauld Institute of Art is an art history institute at the University of London with its own art collection. The extensive painting collection of the Courtauld Institute is open to the public. The Courtauld Institute was founded in 1932 and moved to Somerset House in 1989, which previously housed the Royal Academy of Arts. Somerset House is located in the Strand near the London National Gallery. In addition to exhibits from its own funds, the gallery hosts changing exhibitions. The Institute has its own library.
