Greenwich Observatory
Royal Greenwich Observatory, Greenwich Royal Observatory, Royal Greenwich Observatory
Great britain, London
The Greenwich Observatory is located in the southeastern part of the city. It was founded in 1675. The Greenwich Observatory is one of the largest scientific organizations. It was this place that was chosen in 1884 at an international astronomical conference as a reference point for geographic longitude. Near the observatory there is an interesting alley with a meridian strip in the middle, where tourists like to walk around very much - because from here it is so easy to cross from the Western hemisphere to the Eastern and back!
