Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace
Great britain, London
Buckingham Palace is the official London residence of the British monarchs (now Queen Elizabeth II). It is located opposite Pall Mall and Green Park with a white marble and gilded monument to Queen Victoria. When the monarch is in the palace, the royal standard flutters over the roof of the palace.
The palace is guarded by the Court Division, which consists of a regiment of infantry guards and the Royal Horse Guards. Every day at 11:30 from April to August (in other months - every other day) the ceremony of changing the guard takes place. This is perhaps the most famous ceremony in London; it attracts many tourists.
In summer, the palace is visited by about 20,000 guests who take part in receptions in the royal garden, where there is a lake and waterfalls.
