The Glasgow School of Art is an art school founded in 1845. The current building of the School of Art was built in 1897-1909 by the 28-year-old Scottish architect and artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The building in the Scottish Art Nouveau style is distinguished by the original style of each of its four facades, straight lines and a minimum of architectural decorations.
More than 1,500 students study painting and graphics, photography, sculpture, art history and cinematography at 10 faculties of the college. Within the walls of the School of Art, in its Reid Gallery, exhibitions of paintings, sculptures and photographs are held. Excursions are also organized around the Mackintosh building, in which the school is located, during which they talk about the architectural features of the external appearance of the building, examine the rooms with preserved original furniture of the 19th century.
