Cathedral of St. Philip
St. Philip's Cathedral
Great britain, Birmingham
The Baroque Cathedral of St. Philip was built during 1711-1715 and was consecrated in honor of the Apostle Philip, in gratitude to the industrialist Robert Philip, who provided a plot of land for construction.
The main entrance to the cathedral is decorated with a portico, and a tower rises above the front of the building, ending with a small dome. Several magnificent stained-glass windows of the late 19th century, the work of the talented artist Edward Burne-Jones, have been preserved in the windows of the cathedral. It houses a large library of theological literature. A large organ was installed in the cathedral in 1715, and its church choir is one of the best in the country.
The Cathedral of St. Philip is included in the list of national treasures of Great Britain.
