The Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery (BMAG) opened in 1885 in a new addition to the House of Soviets. There are more than 40 galleries here, covering seven centuries of development of art, history, archeology and ethnography. The museum and gallery have collections of paintings from the 14th-21st centuries, ceramics, coins from different centuries, Chinese porcelain, jewelry, archeology, ethnography, and local history. Entrance to the museum is free, a ticket is purchased to visit individual temporary exhibitions that are regularly held here.
