Great britain, Birmingham
The building of Birmingham City Hall (Town Hall) was built in 1834 in the likeness of an ancient temple in the Roman Forum, as a concert hall and a place for public meetings and political debates. Almost all prime ministers and the most significant politicians of Great Britain, including Margaret Thatcher, spoke here. Until 1912, the traditional triennial music festival was held here. In addition, wrestling tournaments, graduation balls and fairs of local craftsmen were organized in the town hall building.
After a major renovation in 1996, Town Hall, with its magnificent 1086-seat auditorium, hosts music concerts of all styles, conferences, dinner parties, fashion shows on its stage. The town hall is famous for its organ, installed in 1834, which, after modernization, has 89 registers.
