This fort can only be reached at low tide, so the question arises "how was it built if the tides are the highest here? " Historians answer us that they began to build it on the Ile rock in 1689. The fort was part of the Saint-Malo defense system, which included several other forts on the islands around this port. The project was developed by the famous fortifier Sebastian le Pré tre de Vauban, and the local architect Simeon de Garanzho directly supervised the construction.
