The compact seaside town of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer grew at one time around the Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Mer (L'é glise de Notre Dame-de-la-Mer). The building itself was built in the Romanesque style. In the main room of the temple there is a small colorful sculpture of two Marys in a boat with numerous thank-you tablets around the perimeter. Below, in the crypt, are the relics of St. Sarah and decorated with ribbons, an elegant statue of Sarah herself. There are also a bunch of thank-you tablets, notes and other evidence of the numerous cures bestowed by the Saint.→
