From the time of the Capetians, two buildings have survived: the royal chapel of Sainte-Chapelle and the Conciergerie. Naturally, they must be visited together, so I bought a ticket for a simultaneous visit to the Conciergerie and Saint-Chapelle. There was no line, there were few people. The first thing that opened my eyes was a large hall with a beautiful vault, in which a film about the history of the Castle and the prison is being broadcast. You can see everything as much as you want, there is no time limit. Further, following the signs, you can look at the prison premises and see where and in what conditions the prisoners were kept. It is hard to realize that hundreds of prisoners during the French Revolution were thrown into the Conciergerie and then executed. High-profile trials also took place here (over Sarah Bernhardt, Mata Hari, E. Zola, etc. ). I advise everyone who is not indifferent to history to pay attention to this place saturated with unusual events.
