Theater de l'Odéon, Odéon-Theatre de l'Europe
France, Paris
The Odeon Theater is one of the six French national theaters located in the sixth arrondissement of Paris, on the left bank of the Seine, next to the Luxembourg Gardens, near the Odeon metro station.
The theater building was built between 1779 and 1782 in the park of the former Conde mansion in the classicist style, designed by Charles de Velli and Marie-Joseph Peyre, in imitation of the Comédie Francaise theater building. The theater was opened by Queen Marie Antoinette on April 9, 1782.
In 1990, the Odeon received the title of "Theatre of Europe". It is a member of the Union of Theaters of Europe.
