They put you in a small boat and there are huge windows in it, a wonderful view from the river opens up, but I advise you to ride twice - at night and during the day, because the views are completely different. At night, all the houses are illuminated, and during the day you can see the architecture in detail. I would also like to note right away that they conduct an excursion on the boats, I personally came across without the Russian language - most often there is English, German and French, respectively. Each phrase is spoken in turn as the ship sails under certain bridges or past buildings. You can sign up for these boats in advance, or you can get there just by standing in line. like most do.
The tour is absolutely worth your money, magnificent beauty and a lot of information on the tour)
