Hill of Montmartre

Montmartre is the name of a 130-meter hill in the north of Paris and an ancient Roman settlement. In 1860, the area became part of the city, giving the name to the 18th municipal district.

Montmartre Hill is the highest point in Paris. At the top of the hill is the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, one of the most popular attractions in the French capital. You can climb Montmartre by the famous stairs or by using the funicular.

Montmartre, along with the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower, is a favorite destination for tourists. Crowds of tourists besiege mainly the Sacré-Coeur and Place du Tertre. Montmartre is occupied by portrait painters, cartoonists and graphic artists.

And I liked it :)
Montmartre is the most charming place in Paris (from my point of view). Judging by the number of visitors, I'm not the only one who thinks so : ) Montmartre offers a magnificent view of the French capital (no worse than from the Eiffel Tower). At the top of the hill is the majestic Sacré -Coeur, which, along with numerous artists and musicians, is a symbol of Montmartre. By the way, here is the world's first "bistro" : )→

A place of contrasts
For me, Momartre was a place of contrasts. Early in the morning it is calm with half-empty streets and souvenir shops with the solemn Sacre Coeur standing on top, and in the evening it is filled with noisy, tipsy citizens. And there were not many tourists among them. The first time I advise you to climb the hill on foot. This is very romantic. If you have no strength at all, then go up on the funicular. Use the ticket that you bought for the subway. Pass through the validator and that's it. Be sure to visit Sacre Coeur.→
