Palais de Chaillot is located on the hill of the same name opposite the
Eiffel Tower on the other side of the Seine. It was built for the World Exhibition in 1937. Previously, in its place was the Trocadero Palace, built in 1878, which never became popular.
The Palais de Chaillot consists of two long arched pavilions - "wings", diverging in two directions, and a platform between them, which offers a good view of many of the sights of Paris. The Trocadero garden and park complex, famous for its majestic fountains, also originates here. In the palace itself there is a museum complex, consisting of the Museum of Man, the Maritime Museum and the Museum of Monumental Art of France.
