The Grand Palace in Paris was built in 1897 for the opening of the World Exhibition, held here in 1900. The Beaux Arts building sits majestically between the
Champs Elysées and the Seine. The building was intended to host cultural events and exhibitions in the capital. An inscription on one of its pediments reads: "Building dedicated by the Republic to the glory of French art." The entrances to the Grand Palais are decorated with copper quadriga by Georges Recipon.
The Art Gallery is located in the northern part of the Grand Palace of Fine Arts, and the Museum of Discoveries and Inventions is located in the western part. Nowadays, annual fashion shows, art and other exhibitions are held here.
