Arch in Place Carruzel
Arc de Triomphe on Carrousel Square, Arc du Carrousel, Carousel Arch, Small Triumphal Arch
France, Paris
The triumphal arch on Carruzel Square was erected near the Tuileries Palace, which was later burned down during the Paris Commune. The arch was created in 1806-1808 by order of the ruler Napoleon Bonaparte, who decided to perpetuate his own victories. The building was built in the Empire style popular at that time, designed by architects Charles Percier and Pierre-Francois Fontaine. The arch is 19 meters high and 23 meters wide. Its design is made in the likeness of ancient Roman triumphal arches.
