This unique church was built in the 15th century and is considered the oldest and largest wooden church in France. From the outside you can see how unusual this building is. Its bell tower was built separately from the church for fire safety purposes. The roof of the church, partially covered with chestnut tiles, resembles an inverted ship, a symbol that the building was built by shipbuilders. Here you understand the idea of a church-ship in the ocean of life as well as possible, because the nave, in Latin navis, means a ship.→
