The Lyon Museum of Fine Arts is one of the largest European museums, located in the historical part of the city, in a building of the 17th century. In terms of the number and value of artifacts, his collection, which occupies 70 rooms, is second only to the Louvre.
The exposition of the museum includes objects of cultural heritage of the XV-XX centuries: about 1300 sculptures, 1700 engravings, paintings by outstanding painters, medals and coins, artifacts from Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Middle East, 550 exhibits of arts and crafts, including valuable samples of ceramics from China, Japan and Korea.
The museum has a garden where many sculptures of the 19th century are exhibited for inspection.
