Volcano Soufrière

Volcano Soufriere
France, Guadeloupe
Volcano Soufrière, covered with tropical forests, is rightfully the main tourist attraction of the National Park of Guadeloupe, the overseas department of France in the Caribbean. Volcano with a height of 1467 meters is located on the island of Basse-Terre and is the highest point of Guadeloupe. Soufrière is an active volcano, although the last time it erupted was in the late 1970s. Despite the potential danger, the city of Basse-Terre was built at the foot of the volcano. Climbing to the top of the volcano is popular among tourists. In clear weather, there is a panoramic view of the valley, the sea and the nearest islands, including Dominica.

Our destination is La Soufriè re volcano. Mountain serpentine, jungle, and here we are in the parking lot. Height - 900 meters. It became noticeably cooler - 23 degrees instead of the usual 27. Near the parking lot, at the beginning of the route, there is a swimming pool with warm running water. It reminded me of Cleopatra's pool in Turkey (Pammukkale), only smaller and without columns. The sign says it's an hour and a half walk to the top. Begin. The first part is a relatively gentle climb through the forest.
