Rovaniemi Art Museum
Rovaniemi Art Museum
Finland, Rovaniemi
The Rovaniemi Art Museum was opened in 1876. It is located in the building of the former post office, restored by the architect Juhani Pallasmaa and converted specifically into a museum. Most of the exhibition is represented by works of contemporary Finnish art from the collection of the Jenny and Antti Vihuri Foundation, which already includes more than 2,000 works.
Special exhibitions are aimed at the work of artists of the northern peoples of Lapland. The museum hosts events based on the interaction of science and culture, as well as the local multicultural community and the University of Lapland.
