Korkeasaari is a zoo on the island of the same name in Helsinki. One of the northernmost and oldest zoos in the world. At the beginning of 2007, there were about 200 species of various animals in the zoo, and the number of individuals exceeded 2000, as well as more than 1000 different plant species. The zoo has more than 20 rare and endangered animal species in its collection.
The zoo is located to the east of the center of Helsinki. The area occupied by the zoo is more than 22 hectares. The zoo operates all year round and is one of the most popular attractions in the Finnish capital. There is a regular ferry service from the Helsinki Market Square to the zoo during the summer. In winter, you can get to the zoo by metro or bus.
