Manor Vittresk
Hvittrask, Hvittrask
Finland, Helsinki
Vitträsk Manor was designed by a trio of friends and fellow architects in the Finnish Art Nouveau style and built between 1901 and 1903 using stone and wood on a hill above Vitträsk's "White Lake", 30 km from Helsinki. The families of Eliel Saarinen, Herman Gesellius and Armas Lindgren settled in the manor, each of which had a separate wing built. The building was united by a common spacious studio-workshop, where projects of many residential and public buildings were subsequently created. In the rooms of the estate there are 15 stoves with beautiful tiles in the national style and artistic forging.
In some rooms you can see original stained-glass windows, large homespun carpets with national ornaments, a lot of wooden and forged elements were used in the decoration of the house. Now there is a museum in which a souvenir shop operates. Nearby is the Vittresk restaurant, which offers a special Christmas menu with the onset of winter.
