Tamminiemi
Finland, Helsinki
Tamminiemi is originally the residence of the President of Finland, and now the Urho Kekkonen Museum, located in Helsinki in the Meilahti district.
Tamminiemi was the official residence of the President of Finland from 1940 to 1981. After Urho Kekkonen left the presidency for health reasons in 1981, when he was already 81 years old, he was granted the right to remain in Tamminiemi. Tamminiemi became his personal "service" home. After Kekkonen's death in 1986, a house museum was organized in Tamminiemi, which shows the story of Kekkonen's life in the light of all recent Finnish history. Kekkonen's heirs donated his personal belongings to the museum.
