Hanko is the southernmost city in Finland, located on the Hanko peninsula, 127 km from Helsinki. Founded by the Russian Empire, from 1874 to 1945 it was called Gangut. The city attracts tourists with its clean sandy beaches and 19th century wooden architecture.
Hanko is one of the centers of water sports, several marinas are organized here, to which hundreds of yachts moor in the summer. The sights of the city include the Protestant and Orthodox cathedrals, as well as the modern city hall and the fortress museum.
