Mannerheim House Museum

Mannerheim Museum, Mannerheim Museum
Finland, Helsinki
The Mannerheim House Museum is located in the southeastern part of the city. It is entirely dedicated to the life of an outstanding Finnish politician. There is a rich collection of personal items here: state awards, hunting trophies, letters, etc. The rooms completely recreate the atmosphere that was during his lifetime. Guided tours of the museum are available in three languages: Finnish, English and Russian.

Of course, while living in St. Petersburg, I repeatedly came across the name of Mannerheim. Since I am interested in history, I travel quite often with the Silver Ring historical and cultural center, I heard different things about Finn No. 1. But the reviews were always rather positive, despite the very controversial figure of this person. He is from a Swedish family, he studied military craft mainly in the Russian Empire. He was closely connected with Petersburg and loved it very much. Hence his order during the Soviet-Finnish war: to reach the old border and not cross it.
