House Museum of Jean Sibelius Ainola
Ainola, Ainola House Museum
Finland, Helsinki
The Jean Sibelius House Museum is located in Järvenpäa, overlooking Lake Tuusula. The house was built in 1904 and named "Ainola" - after the name of the composer's wife - Aino. After his death in 1957, Sibelius was buried in the garden near the house, and 12 years later Aino was buried nearby. In 1972, the Sibelius children sold the house to the government and now houses the composer's museum, open to the public from early May to early October, except Mondays. The house consists of the composer's study, two bedrooms, a dining room with a fireplace, a guest room, a pantry, a kitchen and a servant's room. Nearby are the sauna and garage.
