Plaza of Spain in Seville

Plaza de España, Spain Square in Seville
Spain, Seville
This large neo-Moorish-style semi-circular square is located in the northern part of the María Luisa Park and is a magnificent architectural composition erected by the architect Anibal González for the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929. In an arc, it frames the facade of the Spanish Pavilion in the form of an arched gallery with towers at the edges, which now houses the Municipality of Seville and the Military History Museum with a rich collection of weapons and military equipment. Under the arches of the pavilion there are 48 niches decorated with ceramic mosaics, a coat of arms and a map of the corresponding province - they symbolize 46 provinces of Spain (except Seville itself) and two archipelagos in the Canary and Balearic Islands.
