Serra House (Casa Serra), built in the Art Nouveau style by Juan Rubio Bellver (Joan Rubió i Bellver), a student of Antonio Gaudí (d'Antoni Gaudí). The building is faced with natural stone and includes Gothic elements - a stepped roof cornice and arched windows. The house was built in 1924 for the pharmacist Antoni Serra, and traditionally combined the functions of commercial and residential premises. On the ground floor there was a laboratory and a pharmacy, the upper floors were occupied by the Serra family. It was the first building in the city to have an elevator. There is reason to believe that it was also the first in the city, built using reinforced concrete structures. After the pharmacist's death in 1929, his sister inherited the house, which is why the house is sometimes called Casa Cuadrada by her family name. In 1938, the building was requisitioned as a police station, and the tenants were not evicted, believing that this would protect the institution from terrorist attacks in turbulent times of anarchy. Currently, it is again a residential building with commercial premises on the ground floor.

Walk along the Reus Art Nouveau Route

Casa Serra, address: Raval de Santa Anna, 32-34. Architect Joã o Rubio y Belver, the project was realized in 1924-1925. The house was built by order of the pharmacist Antonio Sera. Part of the house was built as residential, part - for a laboratory and a warehouse. The entire faç ade is built of stone reminiscent of a geometric Gothic pattern. It was the first building in the city to have an elevator.→
