Els Calderers Manor
Els Calderers de Sant Joan
Spain, Majorca
The history of Els Salderers Manor can be traced back to 1285, when it was first mentioned in historical records as the property of the Calderers family. In the 18th century, the aristocratic Ver family bought the entire estate. The current main building was built after 1750 and was constantly expanded until the beginning of the 19th century.
Els Calerers Manor is located in the village of Sant Joan. It can be reached by the main road leading from Palma to Manacor. The whole estate includes the main building, secondary buildings, sheepfolds, fields, barns, stables and chicken coops. The yard contains local livestock. In addition, there is a forge with tools of that time, a bakery, a hangar and a laundry where clothes were washed and dyed.
The main building is a typical example of a Mallorcan rural villa. It is a three-story building with a simple façade and an arched doorway. The building, which was rebuilt several times during the 18th and 19th centuries, has a wonderful courtyard called "sa slastra".
Products produced on the estate, according to the traditions of Mallorca, are offered for sale to visitors. Among them: "sobrasada", wine, marmalade and honey.
