The Spanish Village is an open-air museum located in the Son Espanyolet area. In the 60s of the 20th century, a project for a museum quarter was devised, in which one could immediately get acquainted with all the typical Spanish cultural features: architecture, life, cuisine, etc. The project was realized between 1965 and 1967 by architect Fernando Chueca Goitia.
The museum occupies a space with a total area of 6365 meters, on which famous buildings, monuments, squares and streets of different cities of Spain are reproduced in various scales. It is here that you can walk along the streets of Seville, Toledo and Granada and look at copies of the Myrtle courtyard of the Alhambra, the Madrid Chapel of St. Anthony or the house of El Greco. At the same time, the quarter is also a museum of folk crafts.
