Colon Square is located in the center of the Salamanca district. Until 1893, she bore the name of Saint Jaime. In its center is the Discovery of America garden, and on both sides are monuments to Columbus: a neo-Gothic statue erected in 1885 and four concrete blocks with quotes from historical figures highlighting the discovery of the New World. Also here are the buildings of the Archaeological Museum and the National Library.
