Buen Retiro Park is the city's central park. It appeared at the end of the 15th century and belonged to the royal family, and became publicly available from the end of the 19th century. The park covers an area of about 120 hectares, on its territory there are a crystal and brick palace, many sculptures, as well as the original fountain of the Fallen Angel. Buen Retiro is a favorite holiday destination for Madrid residents.
