Plana Novella and Sakiya Tashi Ling Buddhist Monastery
Plana Novella
Spain, Costa Daurada
At the end of the 19th century, a wealthy Catalan merchant who had made his fortune in the Spanish colonies bought land in what is now the Garraf Nature Reserve and built a mansion for himself, which they called Plana Novella.
Now Tibetan monks live in the mansion: within the palace walls there is a Buddhist monastery Sakya Tashi Ling, one of two existing in Spain and the only one in Catalonia. The palace museum houses one of the largest collections of Tibetan art.
