Cau Ferrat Museum
Spain, Costa Daurada
This mansion in Sitges by the sea, whose name translates as "Iron Nest", belonged to the prominent Catalan cultural figure Santiago Rusiñol from the end of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century. He not only lived here, but also arranged a real art salon in his house, where the most famous philosophers, writers, artists, poets and musicians of that time gathered. Rusiñol's friends were Picasso, Dali, Ramon Casas and other celebrities. From their gifts - paintings and sculptures - the current collection of the Cau Ferrat house-museum consists. Of particular value are two works by the great painter El Greco - "Tears of St. Peter" and "Penitent Mary Magdalena".
In addition, in the museum you can see beautiful chandeliers, locks, keys and candlesticks made of wrought iron of the XIV century, cups and jugs made of antique glass, collections of ceramics, furniture and carved wood - the owner of the house collected these values throughout his life and left them to the city by will.
