Marisel Palace
Palau Maricel, Marisel Palace
Spain, Costa Daurada
This architectural complex, consisting of a palace and a museum, was built in 1910 on the site of the medieval hospital of Sitges. The buildings are made in the Art Nouveau style, but some elements of the medieval hospital, such as Gothic arches, have been preserved.
The project was conceived by the American millionaire Charles Dearing, who wanted to settle in Sitges. Mr. Dearing was a collector and great connoisseur of art, he had a solid collection and wanted to place it in his Spanish mansion. However, in 1921, after a quarrel with his closest friend, the collector decided to leave Spain and return to his homeland. Leaving, the American took most of his collection. Despite this, the house was saved.
Now the Marisel Palace is often used for various events: seminars, receptions, receptions, weddings and concerts.
