Park Catalunya in Miniature
Catalunya en miniatura
Spain, Costa del Maresme
Park Catalunya in Miniature is located 12 km from Barcelona in the city of Torrelles de Llobregat. The park reproduces exact copies of one hundred and fifty of the most famous masterpieces of Catalan architecture on a scale of 1:25. The exposition is located in the open air and a small tourist train runs along its perimeter.
This is the largest miniature park in Europe and the only one in Spain. It was established in 1983 and covers an area of about 25,000 square meters. The idea of the park is not only to show the most interesting historical sights, but also to display the whole of Catalonia with geographical accuracy, so that from the height of human growth it becomes possible to cover the entire province as if from a bird's eye view. To enhance the sense of observation, the buildings are surrounded by appropriate heights of gardens, paths, miniature cars, pedestrians and tourists. A special corner is dedicated to the work of the famous Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi, who created unusual architectural masterpieces that surprise with the almost complete absence of traditional angles and straight lines. More than a dozen of his works are lined up in the park. In addition to building models, the park is equipped with a wide network of miniature railways, several aircraft and steamships. There are also several freeways.
