Abbe Oliva Square

Plaça Abat Oliba
Spain, Costa Brava
Piazza Abbé Oliva is located 50 km from Barcelona, in Montserrat among the rocks. The square is surrounded by buildings built in the 19th-20th centuries to accommodate pilgrims who wished to visit the local holy places. In the center of the square stands a bronze sculpture of Abbot Oliba, the founder of the monastery, erected in 1992. Also planted here are centuries-old cedars brought from the Lebanese mountains by the rector of Bonaventure Oubak.

The area of Abbot Oliva is surrounded by buildings (19th century) that are intended to accommodate pilgrims, the so-called "cells". But, despite its name, these apartments are quite modern and equipped with everything you need. The main attraction of the square is located somewhat in the depths of the monument to the founder of the monastery of Montserrat - Abbot Oliva, the work of the Catalan sculptor Manuel Kuzaks (Manuel Cusachs).
