Escorial (San Lorenzo de El Escorial) was erected at the direction of King Philip II in honor of St. Lawrence. The construction of the cult complex for Spain lasted from 1543 to 1584, the palace-monastery became an example of rationality. The powerful castle is designed in such a way that it depicts an inverted lattice, on which St. Lawrence: four towers at the corners of the building correspond to the legs, and the Palace of the Infantes corresponds to the handle of the lattice on which he was roasted alive.→
