Cafe Four cats

El Quatre Gats
Spain, Barcelona
"Four Cats" is the most famous cafe in Barcelona. It is located in a small alley in the Gothic Quarter. The cafe was opened in 1897 and immediately received the status of a bohemian. Picasso, Gaudi, composer Albeniz, pianist Granados and many others were frequent guests here. During Franco's time, the building was demolished, but in the 1970s it was restored to its original form.

The cafe is famous for its dishes. Particularly good are sea bass baked with vegetables, rack of lamb and a Catalan dessert with whipped cream and chocolate sauce.

Cafe "Four Cats" opened at the end of the 19th century in the image and likeness of the famous Parisian "Black Cat". Initially included a small hotel and a cabaret. It is famous, first of all, for the fact that Pablo Picasso, Antonio Gaudi and many other talents of the Belle Epoque were its regular guests. By the way, it was the 19-year-old Pablo Picasso who developed the design of the cafe menu cover, which is still used today, made under the influence of Art Nouveau style. This poster was his first official commission.
