In addition to the monks, boys live in Montserrat, studying at the Escolania de Montserrat singing school, which is considered the oldest in Europe. Escolania currently has 50 boys aged 9 to 14. Each student learns to play two musical instruments, as well as the specialty - choral singing. Only residents of Catalonia, Valencia and the Balearic Islands are accepted to the school. Technical part. For the main part of the year, the Boys' Choir sings in the basilica. Every weekday at 1 pm, the Escolania choir performs two chants in the basilica of the monastery: Salve and Virolai.→
