Nabq reserve
Nabq National Park
Egypt, Sharm el-Sheikh
Nabq is a nature reserve created in 1997 on the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba, 35 km from Sharm el-Sheikh. The territory of the reserve is 600 sq. km. In 1992, it was declared a protected area and included in the Ras Mohammed Reserve.
Nabq has about 130 plant species. This is the northernmost place in the world where mangrove trees grow. These amazing plants desalinate salt water for themselves. From below, the mangrove leaves are covered with a layer of salt. There are many birds in the mangroves. Beautiful coral reefs stretch along the coast.
