My first review...I am writing to share a truly unique experience! To begin with, this is my first visit to Egypt, despite the fact that I travel a lot, I have always bypassed this country, since all-inclusive relaxation on a sunbed has never attracted me. This time, reluctantly, I went to this country, exclusively for the company ...

On the second day, out of boredom, I bought two excursions - climbing Mount Sinai with a visit to the monastery of St. Catherine and diving on the island of Tiran (by the way, I also advise everyone).

So the day, or rather the evening of X, came, we were gathered in the hall at 21.30 and we set off on our way to the monastery. It takes about 3 hours to drive from our location to the monastery through the desert, bypassing a large number of roadblocks. The first indelible impression is the night sky over the desert, it is really impressive, and it seems that you can reach the stars with your hand.
After two stops - a roadside cafe with tea for $ 2 and a shop with "supposedly" icons (Orthodox, Catholic and Jewish icons and symbols are collected in one store and the Arabs sell it all : ))) in just 15 minutes we arrived at the parking lot at monastery, the guide gave us flashlights and after a short wait, we moved towards the mountain.

After passing the monastery and leaving there in a cafe, on the recommendation of the guide, our food and drink, we went through the monastery to the foot of the mountain ...ahead was 7.5 km. climbing up the stones, cold and wind.

I advise everyone who is going to go on this excursion to take very warm clothes (windproof jacket, gloves, hat and ALWAYS comfortable shoes).

Then there was a 3-hour ascent, for those who think to go or not to go on this excursion, I say right away - IT IS VERY HARD! and immediately you need to understand why you are going there and whether you are ready to overcome the difficult path and discomfort.
This is very important)) After walking more than 6 km, we got to the so-called 750 steps, but right away I say on the steps it doesn’t look like it, these are randomly located stones, here you need the maximum concentration, as there is no safety equipment, and in the form of insurance there are only a couple of people running back and forth Bedouins. The forces on this section of the path are already leaving and it is really very difficult to climb, so we literally made small stops every 150 steps ...we climbed very hastily ...to my question to the guide - "Where are we in a hurry and why so quickly, if people cannot go further go? ", the answer was received - "We are in a hurry to sit in the cafe" ...And then the most interesting thing began - in the cafe you need to wait only 2 hours for dawn))) Now the description of the "cafe" is four walls, hung with rags and covered with boards from above, people sit on stone benches. Spontaneous disassembly of the Bedouins added color, in general we were imbued with color.
Finally, the command of the escort sounded to overcome the last 100 steps, I overcame them right in a blanket rented for $ 4 ...And here is the top, the sky turns red, the stones burn with golden light and finally, with bated breath, we catch the first rays of the sun !! ! It is unique and besides, according to legend, having repeated the path of Moses and meeting the dawn at the peak, you are cleansed of all sins ...it was worth it!

The way back also did not leave indifferent, beautiful views, rare camel parking and 2.5 hours of travel in thought and in complete peace.

At the foot of the year is the monastery of St. Catherine, a symbolic place for believers (there is a separate excursion for those who do not dare to conquer the mountain), since it was Moses who first spoke with God and it is here that the thorny course is located, in the flame of which God spoke.

This place is a shrine for three religions and carries powerful energy!
Be sure to visit the sanctuary, the relics of St. Catherine are stored here, and if you ask the priest, he will allow you to venerate them.

Summing up, I want to say that there are a huge number of negative reviews about this excursion, as people go on this trip without first having studied the information where they are going and why, and most importantly, they treat the guide’s request to wear comfortable shoes and warm clothes with mockery, hence a lot of information about injuries and negativity from tourists.

This is an unforgettable journey and for those who are ready for it both mentally and physically, it will become a truly unforgettable event!
