Bab Zuweila Gate is located west of al-Ahzar Park. They were built in the 10th century and served as the southern fortified entrance to the center of the medieval city. Under the rule of the Mamluks, they were the place of public executions. The now restored gate of Bab Zuweil is a popular attraction among tourists. There are observation platforms on the minarets.
